CONSTITUTION
November 22, 2002
Article I - NAME AND LOCATION
The name of this golf club shall be Bay Area Natural Golf Club, hereinafter referred to as BANG. BANG is an informal association of golfers located in California and focused primarily in the San Francisco Bay area.
Article II VALUES AND BELIEFS
FIRST: Golf is a GAME that is meant to be FUN, regardless of one's level of play.
SECOND: Golf has a rich tradition, and other players as well as the courses on which we play should be treated with the utmost respect at all times.
THIRD: Diligent application of the fundamentals of the Natural Golf method of play (hereinafter referred to as NG) will result in a more consistent and enjoyable golfing experience. Providing opportunities for fellow golfers who employ NG to play and learn together will allow them to share their experiences, both positive and negative, and to encourage each other toward the ultimate goal of improving their level of play.
FOURTH: Demonstrations of anger and/or excessive profanity while playing are NEVER appropriate and we will hold each other to a high standard of comportment when playing together.
FIFTH: We are each responsible, to a certain extent, for other BANG members in terms of their development as players, and should go out of our way to assist those who are struggling whenever it is within our capability to do so.
Article III - PURPOSE
FIRST: To promote the enjoyment of the game of golf by its members, all of whom agree to support each other in NG.
SECOND: To provide opportunities for NG golfers to play and learn together so that they can share their experiences as well as support and encourage each other in the application of NG in order to improve their level of play.
THIRD: To encourage conformance to the USGA Rules of Golf by creating an organization that, although not a representative authority, nonetheless encourages and supports its members adherance to the Rules at all times.
FOURTH: To support a uniform system of handicapping as set forth in the NCGA/USGA Handicap System and to encourage and support BANG members to adhere to all applicable rules, decisions, and recommendations regarding the issuance of NCGA/USGA Handicap Indexes.
FIFTH: To provide an authoritative body to govern and conduct club competitions and outings.
Article IV - MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. Membership shall be available to all men and woman, eighteen years of age and older. BANG membership is not restricted to those employing any particular method of play, but prospective members should clearly understand that BANG is oriented around those who employ NG.
Section 2. BANG members are currently not required to be NCGA members. Members who wish to receive NCGA/USGA Handicap Indexes must do so via membership in another NCGA/USGA club.
Section 3. Membership is currently free. If BANG becomes a NCGA Associate Club, a membership fee will be charged at that time, and all BANG members will have the option of joining the Associate Club. BANG will continue to support those who opt not to join, in order to satisfy its THIRD value and its SECOND purpose.
Section 4. BANG is currently an informal all-volunteer association with no formal Board of Directors. However, BANG expects that as it grows, creation of a more formal organization may become necessary to support its members. In such case, this section of the document will be modified accordingly.
